Known for their loose-jointed, shuffling gait and massive, short-faced head, the Bulldog is known to be equable, resolute and dignified. A medium-sized dog, they are not your typical lap dog, but would like to be! They are one of the most popular breeds according to AKC® Registration Statistics due to their lovable and gentle dispositions and adorable wrinkles. The Bulldog may be brindle, white, red, fawn, fallow or piebald.
Bulldogs are recognized as excellent family pets because of their tendency to form strong bonds with children. They tend to be gentle and protective. The breed requires minimal grooming and exercise. Their short nose makes them prone to overheating in warm weather, so make sure to provide a shady place to rest.
Said to have originated in the British Isles, the name "bull" was applied because of the dog’s connection with bull baiting. The original bulldog had to be ferocious and courageous, and almost insensitive to pain. When dog fighting became illegal in England, fanciers set to the task of preserving the breed by eliminating the fierce characteristics. Within a few generations, the Bulldog became one of the finest physical specimens with an agreeable temperament.
The perfect Bulldog must be of medium size and smooth coat; with heavy, thick-set, low-swung body, massive short-faced head, wide shoulders and sturdy limbs. The general appearance and attitude should suggest great stability, vigor and strength. The disposition should be equable and kind, resolute and courageous (not vicious or aggressive), and demeanor should be pacific and dignified. How we fell in love with the bull breed
I Live 40 minutes South of Mpls/St. Paul, Minnesota on 10 acres with my husband & kids. My husband & 3 Kids all take part in socializing and raising our precious little puppies. I have always been around dogs growing up and I absolutely love them. We started our love affair with Boxers in 2000. We were in search for a loving, loyal, friend and family member. I started to do some research on different breeds to find that perfect friend not just for me, but my growing family too. When looking for the perfect breed we decided that it was the boxer to start with. We have had Boxers for the last 10 years. You can see them at pattysboxer.com. We got our English Bulldog Chasee in 2011 from my husbands brother. I had always told my husband there is no better breed then the Boxer. I definitely put my foot in my mouth. Since I have said that and have had Chasee wow was I wrong. They Bulldog is just as great as the Boxer. They are very similar in breeds, but of course different. The Bulldog breed very laid back, but protective when need to be. They don't always go around things sometimes just right through. They can always make you laugh. I absolutely love dogs and training them in general obedience & conformation. When getting a puppy from us we are there for you the whole life of the dog. We love to help and support you through it all if needed. |
